In the last audition of the season 21 premiere, Kya Monee from season 19 came back to the show to try again to follow her dream. That’s when people at home started to cry. During her audition, Monee’ had to fight back tears as she talked about how she and Spence became friends while they were both contestants on season 19 and how hard it was to lose a friend.

“It was very, very hard for me to lose Willie. I’m still trying to get over it. Willie always told me, “You’ll always be a singer, no matter what.” Willie told me three days before he died, “You have to go back.” You should follow your dreams. He made me want to do it, and I’d love to go further with it. “I want to make Willie proud the most,” Monee’ told the judges with emotion as she told them that he had planned to come with her to the audition.

It was a very sad moment that made everyone in the room and at home cry. It was also a beautiful way to honour Spence, who had died.
