Fujiko A. Fujio

Fujiko A. Fujio is best known for having created the Doraemon manga together with his partner Fujiko F. Fujio, who died in 1996 of cancer and whose real name was Hiroshi Fujimoto. Both worked on this and other projects under the pseudonym Fujiko Fujio since the early 1950s, and in 1987 they parted ways.

In addition to Doraemon, Fujiko A. Fujio also worked on other successful manga, especially in Japan, such as Ninja Hattori-Kun (The Ninja Hattori) or Kaibutsu-Kun (The Monster Next Door).

Motoo Abiko Biography

Abiko was born in 1934 in the city of Himi, in Toyama Prefecture—on the east coast of central Japan—and aspired from his youth to become a manga artist ( mangaka ).
After graduating from high school in the city of Takaoka, to which he had moved from his neighboring hometown and where he met his future half, Fujimoto, he worked at the local newspaper, run by his uncle.
He was in charge of doing portraits and interviews for the art and society section.

Abiko would be professionally known by the pseudonym Fujiko A. Fujio, while Fujimoto by Fujiko F. Fujio. Among the works that Abiko leaves individually are titles such as El ninja Hattori (Ninja Hatori-kun) or The Laughing Salesman (Warau Salesman) , which would be successfully adapted to animation series, among other works. Fujimoto, the creator of the popular cosmic cat Doraemon series, which for years has also influenced Abiko’s name, died in 1996 at the age of 62 from cancer.
